Copic Markers are world-famous, high-quality markers that come in a huge range of colours with various nib options.
The Copic brand was started in the late 1980s by Japanese company Too. The markers are available in a total of 358 different colours and in various different marker designs. Arguably the best-quality markers available on the market, Copics have gained popularity over the years and are used by professional artists, architects, students, designers, illustrators – the list goes on! While the markers may seem expensive at first glance – one marker can last a lifetime. They are durable, refillable and the nibs can be replaced when worn out. The ink is alcohol-based and goes on smoothly. Although it is fast drying, the inks can be re-hydrated on the paper, making them easy to blend. Unlike water-based inks, Copic ink doesn’t damage paper fibres and dries acid-free. Special care should be taken when displaying work, however, as the inks are not lightfast and will fade in sunlight and fluorescent lighting. To combat this, works can be sealed with a UV protective sealant, framed behind UV resistant glass, or artworks can reproduced by scanning and printing the artworks using archival ink on paper.r.
