BENU is proud to introduce its marvelous new collection of pens, Talisman. This collection is inspired by great legends and the mystical beliefs that surround talismans, amulets, and other magical items used to bring luck, protection, money, love or special abilities. Complemented by a matching section, band on the cap, and a shiny silver clip, this pen is an eye-catcher.

Whether you are an avid believer in the magical power of plants, stones, herbs, and crystals, or you remain skeptical to this mysterious and unknown world, there indeed lies a sprinkling of curiosity and intrigue within each of us. Believer or not, we can all admire the fabulous myths and ancient beliefs behind these good luck charms.

We invite you to step into this hypnotizing realm of folklore and see for yourself if there is any truth to be found beneath the fables. Who knows, perhaps this fascinating magic might make its way into our modern world!

Inspiration and substance added to the material of the pen: Mandrake

Magical attribution ascribed in myths: Sexuality and Wealth

With a long history of use in religious and occult practices, the mandrake plant is particularly noted for its potent roots, which somewhat resemble the human body. There are tales of this plant that date as far back as the bible, in which the scripture links the mandrake with sexuality and fertility. Other legendary stories suggest that the plant has magical, and sometimes menacing, powers.

Mandrake is made of vibrant turquoise blue and purple resin with purpley-blue glitter dispersed throughout. The turquoise ends of the pen glow in the dark a mysterious vivid green colour.

This pen glows beautifully in a dark and semi-dark with a green colour after an hour of exposure to light. Please accept variations in duration of glowing depending on exposure time to light, and the intensity of the light source. There are different light sources you can use for “charging” the pen to glow—natural sunlight, regular desk lamps, or LED lamps. Usually, LED lights produce a weaker glow compared to sunlight and traditional incandescent bulbs. However, avoid overheating especially when using incandescent lights and direct sunlight during “charging.” Long exposure to warm sources with strong overheating (over 50°C / 122°F) can degrade the quality of the resin.

Drawing inspiration from certain tales of yore, we set out to convey these stories not only in the colour and style of each pen, but by actually infusing Mandrake root powder into each pen’s material. Watch our video to see how it was done and learn beautiful stories that inspired the design of the pen.

This fountain pen comes with a Benu converter and one long blue ink cartridge. You can also convert it to eyedropper fill.
