The Model J Blackberry is the newest addition to Esterbrook’s celebrated ebonite collection, joining the Violet edition to bring bold, vibrant colour to this timeless design. With its deep purple hue accented by gleaming gold trim, the Blackberry captures both sophistication and individuality—an elegant nod to Esterbrook’s rich heritage.

Inspired by the original 1950s Model J, this reimagined version combines vintage charm with modern craftsmanship. Each pen is meticulously crafted from premium German ebonite, a material prized for its durability, warmth in the hand, and unique tactile quality. The Blackberry finish highlights the beauty of the ebonite, while the engraved Esterbrook signature on the barrel underscores its heritage.

The making of each pen begins with natural caoutchouc rubber, carefully harvested to preserve the health of the trees. Through a precise process of washing, drying, and vulcanization with sulfur and linseed oil, the material transforms into strong, lustrous ebonite—shaped into rods, then hand-finished into the body of the Model J.

Equipped with a gold-plated JoWo #6 stainless steel nib, the Model J Blackberry delivers smooth, reliable writing performance. Designed for comfort, the grip section allows for extended writing sessions, while the spring-loaded cap liner helps prevent nib dry-out.
